Mutable Signs: The Astrology of Unusual Accidents

In the realm of a human life and its vulnerabilities, tragic incidents like accidental gunshot wounds, unintentional fires, and electrocutions strike with shocking suddenness, stark reminders of how fragile existence is. An intriguing pattern has emerged when examining accidents through the lens of astrology — individuals born under the mutable signs – Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, and Pisces – appear to be statistically more likely to be involved in accidents. Astrologers, keen on understanding this phenomenon, have worked to uncover its root causes. Their explorations have given rise to an intriguing theory: those under the mutable signs may have a tendency towards careless mishaps. It could be due to their excitability, feeling a bit more scattered and less focused at times, which may manifest physically, perhaps resulting in mishaps. Individuals born under the mutable mode tend to have a natural restlessness and changing energy. As a result, they often experience various and sometimes unintended responses and outcomes in life’s situations, making them an absorbing subject of study.

The Mind-Body Connection

Considering what we’ll explore here, it’s clear that a person’s personality and mindset play an important role in the type of accident that takes place. By examining an individual’s inner dynamics, astrologers can shed light on their outer experiences. Accidents aren’t just unexpected events. They’re a confluence of choices we make, the world around us, and maybe even a symbol of something deeper. Perhaps these unfortunate missteps aren’t merely bumps in the road, but rather crossroads. They nudge us to examine our paths, to wake us up to something we’ve been neglecting, to help us see the obstacle we keep tripping over. After all, we are composed of ‘psychic energy,’ and the elements that constitute us influence every facet of our lives The accidents that occur in our life, for instance, can say something about our own fate & destiny.

Here are some examples of accidents, along with a bit of astrology related to the individuals involved. Let’s explore how all of this aligns.

Self-Inflicted Gunshot

Clement  Vallingdom died at the age of 50, after accidentally shooting himself with a pistol. He was representing a defendant in a murder case for killing a man in a barroom brawl. Vallandigham wished to prove the victim had in fact killed himself while trying to draw his pistol from a pocket while rising from a kneeling position. As Vallandigham conferred with fellow defence attorneys in his hotel room, he decided to show them how he would demonstrate this to the jury. Grabbing a pistol he believed to be unloaded, he put it in his pocket and enacted the events as he imagined them to have happened, shooting himself in the process. Vallandigham proved his point, since the defendant, Thomas McGehan, was subsequently acquitted and released from custody. Vallandigham, however, died of his wound.

In a moment of legal theatrics, Vallandigham gathered his fellow defence attorneys in his hotel room to showcase his courtroom prowess. It turns out his imagination wasn’t the only thing that was loaded. Vallandigham’s argument was so convincing that the defendant walked out of court a free man. Well, I guess you could say Vallandigham really took one for the team.

Clement’s birth chart displayed a mutable T-square, featuring Mars in Virgo opposing Jupiter in Pisces. A Mars-Jupiter combination often appears in charts of individuals drawn to risk-taking and actions lacking thorough consideration. Mars, representing impulsive actions and violence, also formed a square aspect with Uranus in his natal chart, which implicates firearms and unexpected events. Moreover, a Mars-Pluto connection in his birth chart could signify a tendency toward extreme violence, or even a violent death, suggesting a grave and sudden fate.

Another factor could be that this chart is heavily influenced by Mars, which sometimes signifies dangers, hazards, and accidents due to thoughtless actions or hastiness.

Martha Mansfield – Severely Burned when a Cast Member Tossed a Match that Ignited her Civil War Costume

While working on the film The Warrens of Virginia, Mansfield was severely burned when a match, tossed by a cast member, ignited her Civil War costume of hoop skirts and flimsy ruffles. Mansfield was playing the role of Agatha Warren, and had just finished her scenes and retired to a car, when her clothing burst into flames. Her neck and face were saved when leading man, Wilfred Lytell, threw his heavy overcoat over her. The chauffeur of Mansfield’s car was burned badly on his hands while trying to remove the burning clothing from the actress. The fire was put out, but she sustained substantial burns to her body. She was rushed to a hospital, where she died in less than twenty-four hours.

In Martha’s birth chart, there’s a challenging and intense mutable T-square involving Mars in Virgo at the focal point. This Mars is part of a tense configuration with Saturn in Sagittarius and Pluto in Gemini (Mars-Saturn-Pluto). Mars represents fiery energy, while Pluto signifies explosive power. This combination is highly volatile. Both Mars-Pluto and Mars-Saturn aspects are frequently viewed as indicators of extreme violence in astrology. However, according to C.E.O. Carter, they can also signify burns. Together, they paint a picture of suppressed and restrained anger that can eventually lead to potentially violent outcomes. When Mars and Pluto align, they can symbolize an uncontrollable blaze of fury, deeply rooted rage, and possibly Martha’s own potent psychic energy charged with intense feelings.

J.G Parry-Thomas – Head Partially Decapitated

J.G was killed at Pendine Sands in March 1927 while trying to regain his own world land speed record that had been broken just weeks earlier by Malcolm Campbell on the same beach. He was suffering from influenza and turned down a lucky black cat charm from a little girl, announcing, “I will put my faith in my maker!” His car, Babs, used exposed chains to connect the engine to the drive wheels while the high engine cover required him to drive with his head tilted to one side – the right. On his final run the right-hand drive chain broke at a speed of 170 mph (270 km/h), partially decapitating him.

Astrologically, Venus, Saturn (chains), Chiron (wounding), and Pluto (death) are all conjunct in Gemini (the sign of transport). Pluto is in Taurus at the critical 29th degree (Taurean neck area).

Claude Francois – Electrocuted

Claude’s attempt to fix a crooked light bulb while taking a bath proved to be a shocking experience. While standing in a filled bath, Claude noticed a light bulb that was not straight, tried to straighten it and was accidentally electrocuted. That was the official version. There are those, who believe other accounts including foul play. Whichever is true, with Claude François having died at only 39 years of age, his death brought a wave of public sympathy for a French “national treasure’.

The sun is in Aquarius in the 11th degree and is square to Uranus. Based on his horoscope, we may say that he is a forward-thinking inventor who craves isolation from the masses. We might also (regrettably) characterize such a high concentration of Aquarian energy as having an electric personality or a preoccupation with the future. He’s a Mutable, which, along with his Mars-Jupiter conjunction, spells out a life of recklessness.
