Pluto’s Transformation

In her book Relating, Liz Greene alludes to a Pluto mythologem in which the king must descend beneath the earth to consummate a union, and at the moment of ecstasy, he dies and is torn to pieces and devoured by the dark woman with whom he has united, linking it to the process of metamorphosis, which doesn’t sound like something we would probably want to sign up for wittingly. Pluto is often described by the word “transformation,” which typically refers to a dramatic alteration in a person’s life, outward appearance, and inner self. When an astrologer is looking for a massive change in an individual’s life, they look at Pluto transits because they create the conditions for such a shift to occur. During a Plutonian transition, it is usual to experience a descent into the shadowy regions of your life, and it is often a period of introspection during which you delve into the depths of your world and psyche. The return to the upper world indicates that you’ve undergone some serious personal growth. Whether you’re aware of it or not, you’re not the same person you were before. Maybe your loved ones will notice the change before you do, or maybe you’ll just feel like a brand new human being. Either way, you’ve got a newfound appreciation for life, a renewed sense of purpose, and a clearer understanding of what really matters to you.

Due to the gravity of Pluto’s natal house and aspects, you are immersed in some serious soul-searching, deep inner work, introspection, or otherwise trying to figure out what is going on in your life because issues involving Pluto’s natal house and aspects tend to become too strong and impassioned because they normally matter so much. Pluto is a vital component of this process, but it requires a great deal of work and effort on your part because your energy must combine with and integrate Pluto’s energy fully (not superficially). The appearance of heavier and darker themes, inner demons, or monsters coming to confront you in your dreams may be a sign that you have a need for transformation and to look at the hidden parts of yourself. It’s like experiencing a spiritual awakening when you get in touch with your true nature and let go of the things holding you back so that you can move on with renewed perspective and a lighter heart.

In order to discover who you truly are, you must sometimes be destroyed, torn apart, and stripped bare, only to rebuild from the ground up. Pluto suggests a complete overhaul: “Let’s get rid of it all and start all over.” The planet eliminates everything superfluous from your life, and when debris settles, a brand-new chapter in your life story begins. Pluto’s role as “giver of wealth” necessitates an act of final letting go and moving on, a descent into “The Dark Night of the Soul” and journeying to the very depths, a process that is inevitably painful since it forces you to face your own psychological complexes. Pluto compels you to look deep inside yourself for renewed power, but in doing so, you may feel emotionally raw and exposed. It is believed that these feelings indicate that a change is about to occur, so if you are experiencing any of the following manifestations—anxiety, extreme emotions, a sense of vulnerability, or even a sense that you are being “ripped open,” don’t fight it—just go with the flow and see where it takes you.

It’s going to get dark and twisty before you can see the light. Pluto will make you let go of everything and take a deep dive into the abyss of your soul. Get ready to face your inner demons and say goodbye to your psychological baggage. Pluto is like a tough love counsellor, pushing you to dig deep and find your inner strength. But be warned: this journey may leave you feeling emotionally naked and vulnerable.

Life, death, power, and sex—the four horsemen of the apocalypse that the dark planet loves to unleash. Whether you like it or not, Pluto will make sure fate pays you a visit. Whatever occurs, you have to face it, live it as part of your new life, no going back, and see what the future holds for you now in this new change of who you are, your life, or your whole world. If you want to make profound, lasting changes in Pluto’s domain, you’d better have a burning passion for that transformation. To reach such a tipping point, it may need something as drastic as a massive trauma and a subterranean eruption to discover the strength and resolve to pull through the crisis and make it back out. If Pluto is influencing your life, you may feel as if you are being pushed to and fro, torn apart a little more, then shoved back into the underworld again and again.

In death, your body decays, and your soul emerges from it, rising far above the material world. This is the final transformation in the cycle of life, death, and rebirth. Pluto symbolises your inner drive; it ushers in a sense of transcendence as you shed your old identity and take on a new one. As a fixed planet, Pluto can sharpen your focus, intensity, and determination, and the positive changes you make in your life will have long-lasting and profound effects.

Pluto is like a cosmic makeover artist, helping you ditch your old self and embrace a new and improved version of you. It’s like a spiritual spring cleaning for your soul. If you’re feeling unfocused and lackadaisical, a visit from Pluto might just be the kick in the pants you need to get your act together. This little planet packs a big punch, helping you hone your focus and determination so you can make lasting changes that will rock your world.

You need to acquire depth if you’re going to progress beyond the surface levels of your life and into the next phase, where you’ll be able to tap into the talents and abilities that you’ve always had but have kept dormant up until now (undeveloped, hidden, repressed). Symbolically, Pluto stands for the place in your life where you’re stuck and need to break free by developing a new attitude and eliminating limiting habits and routines. Pluto might also make you feel that you’re trapped in a hopeless predicament you can’t get out of. When in reality, the planet is the agent of change and a powerful symbol of transformation; however, let’s not forget, with great power comes great sacrifice.
