Right now, transiting Mercury is opposite my Mars, and I sensed something was brewing even before I checked the astrological transits. My intuition about this energetic shift came from my speed reading practice on the Kindle Fire. Recently, I’ve been using a feature on my Kindle that allows me to install different voices—I frequently use one called ‘Posh Amy.’ Initially, I set the playback speed to double time. At first, it was overwhelming, but gradually my mind got used to it, focusing sharply and skipping the mundane parts of the books. It allows me to absorb the necessary information quickly—those sections don’t require much reflection. Then, when I reach a good part of the book, I can highlight it and zoom through the rest. Many books tend to be filled with filler before the real insights emerge.

During this period, I wondered if a Mercury-Mars aspect was influencing me, though I hadn’t checked the current planets. Ironically, this morning, my Kindle Scribe—which has become my favorite gadget this year—suddenly developed a permanent line across its screen. I tried restarting it to see if it would refresh the display, but to no avail. A factory reset didn’t fix the issue either. Frustrated, I realized that this annoyance was due to a Mercury-Mars opposition affecting me more than just intellectually—it was impacting my daily life and tools!

Annoyed and slightly angered by this disruption, I logged onto Amazon to seek help. It took a few minutes to find the right support section.

Mercury, the fleet-footed harbinger of communication is aspecting Mars, the fiery warrior of action and impatience. Now, Mercury in aspect to Mars stirs your mental faculties and sharpens your tongue. In my pursuit of mental quickness, I took to speed reading on my Kindle Fire. Amy and her refined accent racing at double speed. Initially jarring, this rapid auditory input soon honed my focus, allowing me to skim past the boring bits and absorb the essence of text swiftly. I’ve found that books, much like life, often contain stretches of tedium punctuated by moments of brilliance. By skimming through the less inspiring sections, one can swiftly arrive at the moments of wisdom, ready to be savored and highlighted. But alas, in this period of heightened mental activity, my beloved Kindle Scribe—my companion of the year—decided to bear a permanent scar, a line etched across its screen. A reset, a factory reboot, and nothing worked to fix it. Frustration bubbled, a clear sign of Mercury-Mars’s influence. The annoyance simmered as I ran to Amazon’s customer service.

Fortunately, the situation with my Kindle Scribe is being resolved quicker than I expected. They’re sending a replacement on Monday and have already issued return labels for me to send the damaged one back. I must admit, the quick turnaround is impressive, and in a way, I can thank the Mercury-Mars opposition for this swift action. But then again, considering Mars is often considered a malefic and the god of war, perhaps it’s also responsible for the initial damage that left me so frustrated. Did Mars stir up conflict by damaging my device only to facilitate a quick resolution?

I’ve always intended to keep detailed logs of all my minor astrological transits, but they would be filled with seemingly mundane occurrences like this. However, it’s exactly these day-to-day events that highlight the influence of the stars in our lives. So, in a sense, Mars acted aggressively against my Kindle (Mercury reading device), but the quick replacement is also due to the energy of this transit.

Astrology’s accuracy continues to amaze me. It’s almost routine now, but the way it manifests is still profoundly mysterious—like an invisible force beaming its energy down to us. I can’t fully grasp how astrology works, yet it proves itself over and over to those who take the time to observe and study its patterns.

I promise, this isn’t a promotion for Kindle products. It’s just Mercury and Mars causing havoc with my e-reader, but at least Amazon’s speedy replacements are here to save the day (hopefully).
