I am feeling better today. Turns out it wasn’t food poisoning because my son got the same thing, and we definitely don’t eat the same foods, so apparently it was just a normal, really nasty bug. Weirdly quick though. I feel pretty much completely normal again now, so it was basically a dramatic two-day encounter with mortality. I was really bored at times being off sick. I think I missed the mental stimulation more than anything. There is something very unusual about lying still for so long when normally my brain is constantly finding something to think about, analyze or obsess over. I watched a lot of true crime and quite a few programmes about people who had come through incredibly difficult things, which certainly puts your own life into perspective. Obviously I was practically on my death bed at the time – not – but you know what it’s like when you’re ill.
Every time I get one of these bugs and then suddenly feel healthy again, I have this enormous sense of gratitude for being alive. Everything feels different. I have a new perspective. I’m going to appreciate every moment. I’m going to live differently. I’m going to become some sort of enlightened version of myself who understands the precious and temporary nature of existence. Give it a week and I’ll be exactly the same person I was before. And yes, I know it was only a two-day bug. Don’t judge my downtime spiritual awakening.
It is funny though, how quickly simply feeling normal again can feel amazing when you haven’t felt normal for a couple of days. Health is one of those things we barely notice while we have it and suddenly regard as the greatest gift in the universe the second it disappears. Anyway, enough of my brief confrontation with human mortality. Back to the normal astrology stuff on the website. Although starting back in the middle of the week feels very weird. It’s like walking into a film halfway through and pretending you know what’s going on.
